Radiance Day Spa is delighted to be associated with plastic and reconstructive surgeons Stephen Ronan and Nathan Sewell of Blackhawk Plastic Surgery.  Drs. Ronan and Sewell will continue to offer injectable treatments like Botox® and Restylane® at Radiance Day Spa on a regular basis.  They also offer a full range of surgical and nonsurgical cosmetic treatments at their offices and surgery center in Danville.

Dr. Stephen Ronan was raised in Petaluma and attended the University of California at Davis. He received his MD from the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond and continued his training in general and then plastic surgery at the Medical College of Virginia.  Dr. Ronan founded Blackhawk Plastic Surgery and the Blackhawk Surgery Center.

Dr. Ronan received the prestigious S. Dawson Theogaraj Award in 2000 for excellence in plastic surgery scholarship. He is a life member of the Heritage Society of the Medical College of Virginia of Virginia Commonwealth University. He is also a life member of the Maliniac Circle of the Plastic Surgery Educational Foundation. Dr. Ronan is a member of multiple committees of the American Society of Plastic Surgery.

Dr. Nathan Sewell was born in Florida and raised in Nashville, Tennessee.  He received his undergraduate degree from Columbia University in New York City, where he majored in Art History.  He returned to Nashville where he obtained his MD at Vanderbilt University.  His research interests there included head and neck reconstruction, burn surgery, and reconstruction of pediatric cranial anomalies.   He received his general and plastic surgery training at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, where he served as chief resident during his final year and where he and Dr. Ronan first met. 

Dr. Sewell is also the Chief Plastic Surgeon at San Joaquin Regional Hospital, where he performs complex reconstructive operations and teaches the art and science of plastic surgery to residents.  He is the author of multiple scientific papers and presentations. 

Both surgeons have also been privileged to be a part of Operation Kids, based in Richmond, VA, and make yearly trips to Guatemala to provide surgical care to children with cleft palate, cleft lip, burn scars, and other deformities.

Drs. Botox® has been safely used for certain medical conditions for more than a decade. This procedure has been widely used and is considered a safe and effective way of treating aging skin. It is used to eliminate or reduce worry and frown lines, "crow's feet", laugh lines and other wrinkles sometimes called dynamic wrinkles.

The procedure works by physiologically weakening facial muscles beneath the skin that are related to expression lines. The contractions of those muscles result in wrinkles. Botox® works by blocking the impulses from the nerve to the facial muscles thereby relaxing them. The result is that the pull of the underlying facial muscles relax causing the skin to flatten. This results in a smooth, unwrinkled look. The effects of Botox® treatments can last up to four or five months.

Restylane is a safe and natural cosmetic dermal filler that restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds and for lip augmentation. It is make of non-animal based hyaluronic acid, which is a natural substance that already exists in the human body. It provides volume and fullness to the skin. The length of time the effect of a Restylane treatment lasts is very individual and depends on many factors, such as the structure of your skin, the site injected, lifestyle, age, the degree of perfection demanded and the injection technique of the practitioner.  Most patients continue to see results for four to twelve months.
